Would please pray for us and our continuing financial need to remain on the mission field.  Within the first three months last year we lost one of our most significant church supporters, and a handful of other individuals.

We need need to recover over $500 a month in support to remain on the field long term.

While we are confused as why this is happening now, so soon into our service here, we have no doubt that God wants us here and has a plan to keep us here. Would you pray about how you could help by partnering with us, and spreading the word about our ministry with your friends and family?

These are statistics from a UNICEF National Trauma Survey about Rwanda.  They highlight both the great challenge and the need for leaders who are well trained to shepherd folks to the God who heals all our wounds.  Sadly these statistics have become a reality to us, as everyone we have come to know closely has lost a significant or in some cases the majority of their families over the past 20 years.

Can you imagining pastoring this kind flock?  We can’t really imagine it and yet we feel deeply compelled to do whatever we can.  Within the first six weeks we were here we had to leave the village we were in because of growing tension in in the region, the language helper I had at the time confided in me that he would run if the killings began to start, he’d rather be shot in the back than hacked to death.

Yet, what we are apart of here is one very significant part of how God is bringing about the newness of the resurrection of his Son throughout Rwanda.  Within the confines of our humble school where students come from different tribes to live together from villages across our small country, the least trained, least reached, least funded pastors of the country are being trained and are now full of zeal to plant churches, start similar training programs in various village’s even some have gone (and more studying now are planning) to Congo to preach the beautiful news of God’s love, and hope for those who have lost all hope.  Other’s have formed small movements within their denominations, preaching in each others churches and helping lift up each other in a church climate where spiritism, chilling legalism, jackpot theology (give to the church and get rich and healthy) and incredible corruption are the norm.  Just last month the president of Rwanda replaced the head of one of the largest denomination here due to corruption.  The church is simple humbled, and humiliated and there is a deep hunger for mentoring, for discipleship and a true, transforming knowledge of Jesus, which seems to be more now than ever.

It is absolutely stunning for us to be apart of this.

Thanks for your prayers.  We need them.  They give us life.
